Three double tales is the first monographic work by Aurélien Froment. Published in three languages and designed in collaboration with Åbäke, it explores the artist’s interest in translation and language games. A book of photographs, an exhibition catalog and an artist’s book, it brings together three projects that share the use of photography, and whose sources – places and the imaginary – have structured Froment’s work over the last fifteen years.

Fröbel Fröbelé is Aurélien Froment’s exhibition on the “gifts of Fröbel”, the German pedagogue who designed the Kindergarten in the 19th century. Tombeau idéal de Ferdinand Cheval is Froment’s partial photographic inventory of the image architecture of the Palais Idéal built by Facteur Cheval in Hauterives. Finally, De l’ombre des idées, the Earthworks series and the Bells series are part of the project begun in 2002 to embody, with or without images, the site and imaginary world of Arcosanti, Arizona, designed by Paolo Soleri in the 1960s.
