This book brings together the most beautiful images taken by Jacques-Henri Lartigue over the years 1910 to 1930. It retraces the itinerary of a man who was drawn above all to the immediate and the everyday, illuminating them with a mischievous and impish outlook filled with childlike jubilation.

As Vicki Goldberg puts it, ‘Lartigue mastered a specifically photographic vision that had already cropped up from time to time, but that had never been explicitly defined or elaborated as a style per se. This style – concerned above all with the immediate, the unstable and the unbalanced – was also sharpened by Lartigue’s childlike jubilation and by the century’s inventions.’
