Le Château

2006, the story begins. Inaki Aizpitarte and Fred Peneau take over a bistro in Paris’s 11th arrondissement. Soon, Le Chateaubriand became the capital’s noisiest restaurant. The era is theirs. Everyone wanted a table at the “Château”. Winegrowers found a haven, Fooding made Inaki its flagship, the 50 Best went wild and Michelin-starred chefs discovered eastern Paris. Punk, free, iconoclastic… They’ve all tried to describe the Château gang, but it’s perhaps René Redzepi who says it best: “With them, what was wild became the norm.” Launched like a rocket into the global constellation, the moment of reckoning came. They lose their skin, sometimes their friendships. You can stop when you’re going up, but never when you’re going down. Uncertain choices, November 13, the star, the pandemic… The Château could have died 100 times over, but it came out stronger. Today, the script is written and the mark left is immense.
