Group Ludic - L'imagination au pouvoir

The Ludic Group is a collective of three artists and architects who have been reinventing playgrounds since 1968. This young trio used all kinds of plastic materials, invented structures with simple and abstract forms, created modular paths and, above all, pushed back the limits of children’s risk-taking.

In the context of the 1960’s, where playgrounds were deeply monotonous, children’s only realm was often a wasteland that was doomed to disappear or squares with a swing and a trapeze in the middle of the inevitable sandbox.

Before Group Ludic, the child was condemned to swinging or making pies. Using pop shapes and colors, the Group Ludic praised imagination and freedom, at a pivotal time in the “Trente Glorieuses”.
