Gone

In GONE, Timothy Prus tells the story of how plants arrived on this planet and gave rise to other forms of life. Using images gleaned from the Archive of Modern Conflict, the book takes a unique approach, presenting the history of botanical photography through the lens of an alien invasion. Combining well-known botanical photographs with amateur works, it also highlights the contributions of forgotten female photographers such as Amelia Elizabeth Gimingham (1833–1918) and Bertha Jaques (1863–1941). Prus intertwines horticulture and gardening with space exploration and technological innovation in an imaginary world, illustrating the cyclical nature of evolution.
