Entre-Temps

Through a body of work produced between 1979 and 2006, Entre-temps celebrates these suspended moments of the Magnum photographer between two trips around the world, this strength that Raymond Depardon has to project the details of his daily life to make them resonate in ours. For him, the Entre-temps [In-between] is a space of freedom in which time dissolves and in which he photographs, without any specific goal, his encounters with Parisian street scenes, moments of life in cafés, parks… Places populated by anonymous people who bear witness to an urban loneliness that is intimately felt. Each image becomes a unique story with cinematographic accents.

As Serge Toubiana points out in his text, this set of photographs reveals: “the photographer’s imagination [which] is populated with images already made, [of] mental images that constitute a back-world in which he draws his inspiration, to continue to live and work. To have an eye.”
