Des Femmes et du Style - Pour un Feminist Gaze

A spectre haunts the history of literature: women write, and are (sometimes) read. History, which is written from the memory of men, neglects and relegates women’s works to oblivion. Feminist texts are always reduced to testimony, if possible in the form of sorrow, and criticized as “victimhood”, but they do have a history and, let’s face it, style. This essay proposes, from the point of view of a feminist discovering feminism, a journey through genres and literary works where something like feminist gaze is constructed. More committed than female gaze, it translates into registers the emotions of a woman’s life confronted with male domination, choosing in response laughter, revolt and utopia – always with style.
