The photographic project explores the relationship between the industrial memory, individuals and how nature interacts with them or even takes power over them. The Fabbrica Alta is in the center of Schio, the author’s hometown, an iconic factory building of the golden age of wool production and of the city itself. It is now abandoned despite its recognition as one of the most significant industrial heritage sites in Italy. Brunello believes that photography serves not only as a visual document of cultural memory but also as a vehicle for social transformation and reactivation of forgotten territories and concepts.
Jacopo Brunello (born in 1995) lives and works in Schio (IT). He holds a Bachelor’s diploma in visual arts from the Venice Academy of Fine Arts and a Master’s in photography from IUAV University of Venice. In 2022, he undertakes residencies in Rome and Sicily, developing photographic series centered around the local territories. In 2023, he wins the ECHO (European Cultural Heritage Onstage) Academies grant, which includes an artist residency in Budapest (HU), and a one-year support to carry out a photographic project focusing on industrial archaeology of the historical heritage of his hometown, Schio.
