Animas

“This project came to life through the creation of masks crafted from materials found in the vicinity of two locations that I visited: Hacienda Guadalupe, nestled in the Oaxaca Valley, and San Agustinillo, a charming coastal town in Oaxaca.The masks were realized from a diverse array of materials, including wood, mud, shells, bones, feathers, and other discarded “treasures”. After their creation, I photographed the masks being worn by a couple of models from Oaxaca, bringing the project full circle. Through ÁNIMAS, I merged two of my most beloved passions: the male body and Anti-fashion, resulting in a truly enriching experience.”  – Gustavo Garcia-Villa
