A missing link between John Baldessari’s The back of all trucks passed while driving from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara and Claude Closky’s Auchan, l’alphabet des marques, Alphabet Truck, completing a work that represents several thousand kilometers traveled over several years, pushes the burlesque or compulsive logic of Éric Tabuchi’s pieces into an almost derisory quest for what could constitute his Danish and Japanese origins. Through language (Alphabet) and displacement (Trucks), Alphabet Truck thus questions, beyond its formal and referential aspect, the notions of belonging, identity and mixity.
