Paul Grund is a professional skater. He takes advantage of his many trips, from Washington to Baltimore, from Philadelphia to Detroit or across Japan, to take pictures. His images immerse us in an experience mixing personal impressions and the strangeness of everyday life.
Self-taught photographer, as he is a self-taught skater, Paul Grund works in film and develops all his images himself to assemble them in series in the form of self-published fanzines. One Armed Scissor is his first book, produced from an archive corpus of thousands of images, taken during his skatetrips in 2017.
The object, edited and sequenced in a collaborative way, was printed in risography in Paris with a silkscreened cover, then each copy assembled by hand in Brussels, marking an attachment to the Do it Yourself (DIY) universe specific to the sub -culture of skateboarding.
a Serpent Press / Vague co-edition
Launched in 2018, Serpent Press is an editorial project that publishes fanzines and limited editions. After the Stumble Around and the Paris series fanzines, One Armed Scissor is Paul Grund’s first book.
Vague is a collaborative publishing project for books and objects, initiated in 2016 by Grégoire Grange. It brings together artists, photographers and designers who all have in common the practice of skateboarding and the desire to explore a collective imagination.
