Can we avoid death? How can we overcome our finitude? In Le soleil ni la mort, published by delpire & co, the artist questions our quest for immortality through a device that crosses a visual experience she had during a plane flight with her meeting with the directors of the Alcor cryonics company in the United States.
The event will be accompanied by a conversation between Stéphanie Solinas and Federica Chiocchetti, writer and curator specializing in photography and literature, founder of the platform The Photocaptionist, on the work of Stéphanie Solinas and the release of her book Le soleil ni la mort.
Stephanie Solinas will present at the bookstore a photographic object that responds to the visual concept she developed in the book: the impossibility of embracing in the same image the sunset and the moonrise she captured during a flight in a small plane over San Franscico.
The artist will also present for the first time the limited edition Equivalences, created after Alfred Stieglitz’s famous 1920s series of cloud photographs. This work is part of his exploration of invisible worlds in his series Le Pourquoi Pas.
Free entrance.
