Giosuè Calaciura was born in Palermo in 1960. He lives and works in Rome. He is a journalist and regularly collaborates with many daily newspapers and magazines; he also writes for the theatre and radio. His first novel, Malacarne (Les Allusifs), was published in 1998. Passes noires, published in 2005, also by Les Allusifs, was a finalist for one of the most prestigious Italian literary prizes, the Campiello, in 2002. In 2009, Conte du Bidonville was translated into French by the same publisher and published by 10/18.
