Marey (1830-1904) is a renowned and innovative French physiologist, professor at the Collège de France, promoter of the Graphic Method which allows the study, by graphic recording, of the movements of animated beings. In 1881, he adopted instant photography (a technical innovation) as a means of recording, and invented chronophotography.
