Abbas (1944-2018) was an Iranian photojournalist, member of Magnum Photos since 1985. He began his career in the 1970s, reporting on the political and social life of conflict regions (Biafra, Vietnam, Middle East, Chile and South Africa). In 1980, he covered the Iranian revolution and published his first book Iran: The Confiscated Revolution, a book that condemned him to exile. Through his travels he developed a particular interest in religions, portraying the world through its spiritual aspects.
