Félix Tournachon, aka Nadar, was born in 1820 in Paris and died there in 1910. He is a French cartoonist, writer, aeronaut and photographer.
From 1854 he published a series of photographic portraits of great contemporary personalities, including Michel Bakounine, Charles Baudelaire, Hector Berlioz, Sarah Bernhardt, Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola, George Sand, and many others.
He was the first to make aerial photographs from a balloon as well as by flash underground.
