This book is published on the occasion of the exhibition “Charlotte Perriand. How do we want to live? Politics of photomontage” presented at the Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles from July 5 to September 26, 2021. It explores the philosophy of Perriand through the reconstitution and presentation of the original context of his photomontages compared with his iconographic archive, for the most part unpublished.
With nearly 500 period prints, several dozen negatives and the magazines from which she drew her inspiration, this work archive, unique in its breadth and integrity, allows us to appreciate other facets of Perriand: the iconographer, the image hunter knowing how to handle the art of the diversion of images and their staging in the service of her ideals.
