Do Insects Play?

Do Insects Play? plunges us into the mischievous, sensitive world of French artist Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck, whose practice feeds on the environment in which she finds herself. This book presents a selection of collages in soft and vivid hues, from the ongoing Cocooning series – made up of found papers, paintings and textiles, along with other pieces from To End is to Start, a new body of work created from recycled cotton fibers and water. These new pieces were created during a residency in India in 2018-19, during which Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck deepened her knowledge and practice of artisanal papermaking. A short story by the artist accompanies the works, making their appearance like a gentle melody dancing across the pages.
