Objectif Terre – Le design de notre planète

Artists, designers and researchers investigate how the Earth is becoming an object, in the face of the techno-scientific vision and geo-engineering projects that tend to turn our planet into a design object.
Has our planet become a design object? In the face of geo-engineering, cloud seeding and ambitious projects to control planetary ecosystems, the question seems more justified than ever.
Representing the world through cartography, shaping it through land-use planning, modelling the planet to anticipate natural phenomena and, today, influencing it by controlling the climate: this book takes stock of a posture that has existed since human settlement, which was largely accelerated by the scientific revolution of the Enlightenment, then by a techno-scientific vision linked to the industrial revolutions, that of designing our planet. Artists, designers and researchers are investigating how the Earth is becoming an object.
