Bilingual (English, French) edition of a previously unpublished interview with Walter De Maria conducted by Paul Cummings in 1972 for the Archives of American Art.

The text, available online in a rough transcription, has never been published in English, and the French translation is new. In this long interview, one of the few he gave in his lifetime, Walter De Maria talks at length about his childhood and student years, the place of music in his life, his arrival in New York, his first works, the many artists, gallery owners and collectors close to him (including Robert Morris, La Monte Young, Robert Whitman, Robert C. Scull and Virginia Dwanet) and his travels with Michael Heizer in the Nevada desert.
