Stefan Marx uses a variety of media in his “autobiography”: sketches, paintings, photographs and a few texts, all produced in the iconic style that has made him a legend.
Artist / graphic designer / musician Stefan Marx (born 1979 in Schwalmstadt, lives and works in Berlin) is a leading figure on the skateboard scene. He has collaborated with numerous specialist brands, as well as with the Playhouse Records label. In 1995, he founded his own brand, Lousy Livin’ Company. He is also co-founder of the Hamburg-based label and record store Smallville Records, and a member of the band The Dead See.
His black-and-white drawings, flyers and enigmatic slogans reflect an experience rooted in street culture, while maintaining a critical distance that appeals beyond the codes of any specialized counter-culture.
His work has been widely exhibited in Europe (notably with the collective The Side Effects of Urethane) and featured in magazines such as The Art of Rebellion and Street Logos.
