First French edition of Richard Prince’s “novel”, an assemblage of short prose texts successively rewritten, through which the artist extends his work of (re)photography into the literary field, replacing personal history with a counterfeit memory and a media landscape.

The American artist Richard Prince is one of the precursors of the art of appropriation. By re-photographing advertising images or recycling elements of popular culture that he reframes or reproduces, silkscreens, enlarges or reorganizes within collages, he asks the question, by playing with the signifying emptiness that characterizes these clichés, of the foundations of American mythology, but also of the authorship of the work, plagiarism, intellectual property and the diffusion of the image.
