L’amour seul brisera nos cœurs is a free exchange between Bérangère Fromont’s images and Elodie Petit’s poetic texts, published by A la maison printing in July 2022.
Bérangère Fromont’s work focuses on the representation of female homosexuality, at the intersection of several discriminations, underrepresented, invisibilized in art as in society, unlike gay culture.
“Deformed, colonized, the representation of lesbians in my youth did not exist outside of a few heterosexual pornographic films, where we could see girls with long nails and hair present only for the male gaze. It’s time to create our own archive by producing our own visual narratives away from the usual fantasized narratives of the uninvolved. My approach to this subject is at once intimate, loving, poetic, political, sensitive, everyday.”
The artist will be at the bookstore on Saturday, September 3 to present her work and sign her book.
The book launch will be accompanied by a performance by sound artist Meryll Ampe.
