This famous photograph showing a Republican soldier hit by a bullet during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) is said to have been taken by Robert Capa on September 5, 1936 near Cerro Muriano. However, since 1970, detractors and defenders of the photographer have been fighting over the truth about the location of the tragedy, the identity of the militiaman killed and the sequence of the photographs taken.
