Initium Maris

Nicolas Floc’h’s mission is to establish a photographic typology of French underwater landscapes from the exploration of the different maritime facades, and to put them into perspective in the face of climate change and anthropic pressures. Initium Maris allows us to approach the underwater landscapes and their transformations in the West between Saint-Malo and Saint-Nazaire as well as in Japan. In this environment of almost tropical luxuriance, the eye seeks to measure the extent and scale of the landscape where cliffs, sandy trails or marine vegetation are outlined.

A true photographic manifesto revealing the importance of exploring the underwater environment from an artistic point of view, Nicolas Floc’h proposes a new representation and invites us to build new imaginary worlds.
